Iowa NSF EPSCoR, CenUSA, and Iowa State University Extension and Outreach 4-H Youth Development have worked together to create an educational package for elementary through high school students to learn about Iowa’s bioeconomy.
Centered on the character C6, a superhero of biorenewables, the educational package offers a series of posters, an interactive online game, and promotional materials. Its goal is to teach students about renewable carbon, how it is made into a product, and what kind of business surrounds those biorenewable products. The package will likely continue to grow as teachers and students implement the materials into their classrooms.
The C6 Biofarm has been designed to teach middle school and high school students in agricultural and science classrooms. Students will learn about many topics including the environment, sustainability, carbon, agricultural production, bioenergy, and engineering. A teacher’s guide and lesson plan is also available – let C6 be your teaching partner!
Site includes iBook, videos, teacher’s guide, lesson plans.
