An overarching goal of Iowa EPSCoR is to translate the knowledge gained in the research platforms into specific actions to:
- expand the scientific literacy of all citizens, and
- increase the participation of underrepresented groups in science, technology, engineering, and math fields through education and training.
Iowa NSF EPSCoR is accomplishing this goal through a number of avenues:

The Iowa NSF EPSCoR Building Science team has developed a series of videos teaching energy efficiency concepts for high school physics classes. You can stream or download all four videos in the series.
See the Superhero C6 Materials
These materials offer a series of posters, an interactive online game, and promotional materials. Its goal is to teach students about renewable carbon, how it is made into a product, and what kind of business surrounds those biorenewable products. The package will likely continue to grow as teachers and students implement the materials into their classrooms.
Workforce Development & Diversity
An overarching goal of the Iowa NSF EPSCoR project is to translate the knowledge gained in the research platforms into specific actions to increase the participation of under-represented groups in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) fields through education and training. Specifically, the projects seek to broaden the participation of women, under-represented minorities, and first-generation college students in the STEM pipeline, prepare a workforce that can meet the demands of Iowa’s emerging green economy, and create a community of scholars who integrate broader impacts into their research effort.
