Iowa NSF EPSCoR researchers at Iowa State University, University of Iowa, and University of Northern Iowa will be hosting summer research internships in renewable energy for students. Internship projects will include work on biomass conversion, energy performance assessment of buildings, biochar amendments, wind turbine assessment and repair, building web-based research resources, and the green community campaign.
Most internships will be 8-10 weeks in length, starting in late May or early June and ending in August. Interns will receive a stipend and lodging may be provided.
The interns will be a part of a research group and will be mentored by the faculty leader, staff, and/or graduate students in that group. Students will have opportunities to interact with other student interns while participating in seminars, research lab tours, field trips and social events. Of course, student interns will be expected to do research, participate in lab meetings and all other scheduled events. At the end of the program interns will have the opportunity to present their research findings in a culminating poster session.
The deadline for applications for Summer 2013 has passed. However, contact Mike Lazere at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information about the internship program.
